As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on a year marked by profound global challenges as well as meaningful accomplishments within our Firm. The world continues to grapple with significant hardships. The war in Ukraine remains unresolved, and the suffering is clear for everyone to see. Israel’s post-7 October 2023 seven-front war with designated terrorist organizations, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hezbollah, and Iran and its other jihadi proxies is deeply concerning. However, we draw hope from the recent ceasefire in Lebanon. We all hope and pray for an end to the civilian suffering on all sides. The weaponizing of global judicial institutions such as the ICJ and the ICC is also troubling. As lawyers, we must refute such blatant violations of legal integrity. We are proud that Moalem Weitemeyer has. Geopolitical unrest underscores the need for unity and moral clarity.

Turning to a more positive note, the holiday season offers us the chance to appreciate our relationships and achievements. In 2024, the Danish M&A landscape showed signs of cautious recovery after a subdued 2023. Our Firm had the privilege of advising on the largest landmark transaction in Denmark with a total deal value so far exceeding EUR 30bn. Our Disputes & Investigations practice also achieved remarkable results, resolving significant disputes both in and out of court. We are deeply grateful to our clients for their trust and for the opportunity to strengthen relationships with our international law firm friends.

This year has been transformative for Moalem Weitemeyer. We achieved key milestones in our #NextLevel strategy, including expanding into newly renovated offices. We now occupy four floors in Amaliegade, where the Firm has been since its founding. We are incredibly pleased that our commitment to integrating the works of young Nordic artists into our workspace design earned us a nomination for the Danish Business Culture Award.

The Firm has also welcomed several outstanding partners: Lennart Meyer Østenfjeld rejoined our Firm as partner in our Corporate Finance team. Sebastian Christmas Poulsen arrived to lead our new Family Offices & Private Clients team, bringing extensive expertise in family and foundation-owned businesses. Jacob Bier, one of Denmark’s foremost Corporate Finance experts, joined both our partnership and board of directors, and Andreas Hvid Clement joined us as Head of Real Estate M&A. These milestones, along with secondment opportunities for our lawyers in New York and Europe and with clients in Denmark, reflect our dedication to cultivating talent and expertise to serve our clients better.

Our commitment to ESG and pro bono work remains unwavering. In 2024, we continued supporting 5 Schools’ initiatives for Syrian refugee children and JunkFood’s mission to improve the lives of Copenhagen’s homeless people. We supported THE WHY, AJC, the Danish Nature Fund, and Sabaah, while also contributing to other organizations and local sports clubs making a difference in our local communities and addressing global challenges.

Looking ahead to 2025, we remain optimistic. The market is expected to continue its steady recovery. AI is increasingly shaping what we do and how we work. We are inspired by the resilience and dedication of our colleagues and clients. Together, we can create meaningful impact and continue building a brighter future.

From all of us at Moalem Weitemeyer, we wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday season and a new year filled with peace, hope and prosperity!
